Opportunity

Somerset Entertainment's newest idea for a premium giftable was a line of CDs aimed at "Femme Fatales" and "Unforgettable Girls," featuring hep, old-school-classic tunes and performers, packaged with cool, whimsical magnets. The product presentation needed to convey pizzazz and quality to consumers at retail and maintain satisfaction at home. Once again Tri-Plex was invited to bring its creativity and all-around swellness to the table...

Solution

Tri-Plex personnel in New York and Shanghai collaborated to create a durable, solid-hinged tin CD case that would present the magnet and show off Somerset's eye-catching graphics. The case opens to reveal the disc on a flocked tray, adding to the groovy aesthetic and pleasing to the touch. The high-quality, super-strong magnet sits in a recess on the lid to further enhance the presentation as well as stay in place during shipping, and the recess also nicely frames the magnet art, which is repeated on the lid so that the package looks finished even when the magnet is removed for use on your refrigerator, filing cabinet, etc.

Result

Positive initial response at retail has already led to reprints and a third installment in the series, this one Christmas-themed.
